Why is the red lip so iconic?

The origins of the red lip can be traced back thousands of years to stylish woman who chose to adorn themselves with beauty enhancements in ancient civilizations. These woman foraged and curated pigments from natural elements- for example crushing gemstones or cochineal insects and drawing out the color to apply to the lips. Who knew how much work went into a little lip color?

I understand the desire to wear lipstick because it’s the perfect way to elevate any look. Trust me, you really can’t go wrong with wearing a red lip because once it’s applied it’ll instantly display your confidence and perhaps a hit of audacity? (wink) A red lip is both expressive and empowering; unlike the woman who walked this earth thousands of years ago, I don’t have the time to gather stones and bugs to create a signature lip color. Lucky for us… just one click and a lipstick appears on our doorstep.
