Thanks to TikTok, I have been introduced to the fascinating sport of Skijoring. Skijoring quite literally means “ski driving” and the word has Norwegian roots. This winter sport showcases a human with extreme athleticism being pulled by a horse(s), dog(s) or snowmobile. I’ve watched videos of people letting go of the rope and continuing on solo to do flips and tricks in mid air. It’s quite impressive.

Once a year- Banff shuts down the town center and there is a celebration centered around skijoring. The street is filled with snow and stadium barriers are brought in so the crowd and watch from the side walk. I was really drawn to the fashion as it was a fusion between Western and Snow gear. I have never seen anything like it! Banff has made my travel wishlist and I hope to witness skijoring in person.
